Hida Folk Village is an outdoor folk museum located on the outskirts of Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. Houses, farmhouses, storehouses, and shrines from the Edo, Meiji, and Taisho periods, all relocated from all over the Hida region, are spread across a wide hilly area, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with traditional lifestyles and architectural techniques. The museum is notable for its large thatched-roof houses, earthen floors, hearth-equipped rooms, and the preservation and display of agricultural and everyday implements, allowing visitors to experience the traditional lifestyle and culture of Hida alongside the changing nature of the seasons.

- Thatched-roof houses: Old houses with roof shapes and structures unique to the Hida region are scattered around the area. The hearths and displays of folk implements inside the buildings are a must-see.
- Reconstructed display of the interior of a private home: The living room, hearth, kitchen, and other areas of life at the time are recreated, and detailed explanations are given of the household and farming tools.
- Craftsmanship and Experiences: Demonstrations and experiences are sometimes held on woodworking, papermaking (washi paper), and local crafts, and you can participate in workshops with prior confirmation.
- Scenery of the four seasons: fresh greenery in spring, deep greenery in summer, autumn leaves, and snowy scenery in winter - each has its own unique charm. The illuminations and snowy scenery in winter are especially popular.
- Traditional Events: Reenactments of festivals and folk customs, as well as special exhibitions, are sometimes held, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of local culture depending on the time of your visit.

- Directions from the station:
- Walking: Approximately 20-30 minutes (there is a slight slope due to the hilly area)
- Bus: Take the Nohi bus or Takayama city loop bus and get off at the "Hida no Sato" stop (travel time varies depending on the bus)
- Taxi: A few minutes from the station (quick arrival except during peak hours)
- Access from major cities:
- From Nagoya: Approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to Takayama Station by JR Limited Express (Wide View Hida)
- From Kanazawa and Toyama: Expressway buses and conventional trains plus buses are the most common options.

- As this is an outdoor facility, it is subject to the weather. In rainy or winter weather, there may be slippery areas and access restrictions due to accumulated snow, so we recommend wearing warm, non-slip clothing and shoes.
- There are many valuable cultural assets and exhibits inside the building, and there may be areas where entry is prohibited or photography is restricted. Please follow the signs and instructions of the staff.
- Parking lots and buses can be crowded during busy times (Golden Week, summer vacation, autumn foliage season, New Year's holidays, etc.). It's a good idea to check the schedules and operation status of public transportation in advance.
- Many private homes have steps and narrow passageways, making it difficult to move around with a wheelchair or stroller. Please check the official website in advance for barrier-free access information.
- Please be considerate of other visitors and protect the natural environment on the premises. Please observe basic etiquette, such as taking your trash with you, avoiding smoking outside designated areas, and not touching exhibits.
