Nishiki Market (located in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) is a 400-meter-long shopping street affectionately known as "Kyoto's Kitchen," and is a famous food destination said to have a history of around 400 years. It's lined with a wide variety of products that are symbolic of Kyoto's food culture, including fresh seafood, Kyoto vegetables, pickles, dried goods, tofu, yuba (bean curd skin), fish paste, dashi (soup stock), bonito flakes, Japanese sweets, and Kyoto-style side dishes. Its arcade-like structure makes it less susceptible to the weather, and its lively atmosphere, where locals and tourists mingle, is also appealing. Tasting samples in front of the shops and freshly prepared dishes on the spot are also a great pleasure.

- Crowds: Even on weekdays, it gets crowded during the day, and it gets extremely busy on weekends and during tourist seasons (cherry blossom viewing in spring, autumn foliage viewing in autumn, New Year's holidays, Golden Week, and Obon). Popular stores often have long lines.
- Eating etiquette while walking around: There is a culture of tasting food in front of stores and eating on the spot, but please be considerate and do not stop on the side of the road when it is crowded so as not to obstruct traffic, and take your trash with you (or throw it away in a place indicated by the store). When taking photos, please be careful not to disturb others. Some stores refrain from taking photos inside the store, so it is a good idea to ask before taking photos.
