Cape Toi (Toi Misaki) is a peninsula-shaped cape jutting out from the southern part of Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and is a tourist destination where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and rich natural scenery. Native wild horses (Misaki horses/Toi Misaki horses) have long been pastured around the cape, and one of the area's greatest attractions is seeing them living freely while still being protected. There is a lighthouse and observation point at the tip of the cape, and the scenery, made up of cliffs, sea cliffs, and wide grasslands, is popular with photography enthusiasts and nature watchers. On the land side, there is a road, parking lot, simple tourist facilities, toilets, etc., but due to the nature of the area, preservation and management continues with an emphasis on preserving the natural environment.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Train/Bus: The nearest public transportation is limited, so buses run infrequently and at limited times. The most common route is to take a bus or taxi from the nearest JR station. Please check the timetable in advance.
- Car (recommended): Cape Toi is most easily accessible by car. It takes about an hour from central Kushima (depending on road conditions). Parking is available, but it can get crowded during peak tourist season.
- Tours/Sightseeing buses: There are also day trips and sightseeing buses that operate on set routes. If you are visiting in a group or if public transportation is difficult, consider joining a tour.

- Kushima City: Shops selling local seafood and specialties, roadside stations (local product centers), etc. Convenient for meals and rest.
- Nichinan Coast Area: There are other scenic spots, beaches, and driving routes along the southern coast of Miyazaki Prefecture (we recommend exploring if you have the time).
- Local shrines and historical sites: There are small historical sites and local museums scattered around Kushima. Please check the tourist information for information.
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Do not approach or feed wild horses: The horses are protected and treated as if they were wild. It is prohibited to feed them or to approach or touch them. Please observe them from a safe distance.
- Road and parking lot congestion: Parking lots may be crowded on weekends, holidays, and during peak tourist seasons. We recommend arriving early.
- Weather and season precautions: There are windy days along the coast. Take precautions against the heat and sun in summer, and dress warmly and be aware of road conditions in winter. During typhoon season (summer to autumn), roads may be closed due to severe weather.
- Limited toilet and food facilities: Facilities on the cape are often limited, so if you plan to stay for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to bring some drinks and snacks.
- Traveling on the road: There are some narrow sections on the road to the cape. Please be careful of oncoming vehicles and do not overtake recklessly.
- Photography/Drones: There may be restrictions on commercial use and drone use. Please check the rules and obtain permission before flying a drone.

Toi Cape is easy to navigate if you plan your itinerary around "the sea and grasslands," "observing the Misaki horses," and "viewing points," allowing you to create a satisfying experience even in a short time. Since the ideal itinerary will vary depending on your stamina and photography time, please refer to the guidelines below when planning your visit.
- Shorter tour (approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour): Prioritize horse and sea views by exploring the observation area and surrounding area.
- Standard (approx. 1-2 hours): Includes horse observation and a thorough visit to the viewpoint.
- Relaxed (approximately 2 hours to half a day): Enjoy taking photos, exploring the surrounding area, and observing the seasonal nature.
Efficient rotation (model)
If you're short on time, first check out a spot with a good overall view, and then move towards the grassland where the horses are to reduce the burden of "going back and forth over the same scenery." Since the perceived temperature can change depending on the weather and wind strength, it's best to adjust the order rather than trying to cram too much in.
- Upon arrival, check out the ocean view from the observation area.
- When observing the Misaki horses, prioritize distance and safety, and observe them calmly.
- If there is a walking trail, be mindful of how the coastline and cliffs look as you move along.
- The purpose of the photographs is to allocate time considering the effects of light (morning and evening) and wind direction.
- Find out the locations of toilets and rest stops in advance.
