Yoro Valley is a valley area in Otaki Town, Isumi District, Chiba Prefecture, and is a tourist destination where you can enjoy clear streams, steep rock formations, and natural scenery that changes with the seasons. A beloved local spot since ancient times, it is particularly known as a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, with the colorful maples and Japanese maples decorating the valley in autumn. Dotted with waterfalls such as Awamata Falls, walking trails along the streams, and hot springs (Yoro Onsenkyo), the area offers a variety of ways to enjoy the area, from day trips to overnight stays.

- Awamata Falls: A waterfall that represents Yoro Valley. The contrast between the flowing water and the surrounding greenery and autumn leaves is beautiful, and the view from the observation deck is popular.
- Hiking and Valley Walking Trails: A well-maintained walking trail along the valley, with a series of sights to see, including bridges, rocky areas, and moss-covered stone steps. There are courses ranging from short ones for beginners to half-day courses.
- Yoro OnsenThere are hot spring inns and day-use bathing facilities around the valley where you can relax after a long day of exploring. Some inns offer views of the valley from their open-air baths (depending on the inn).
- Valley viewing spot: Views of the streams and cliffs can be enjoyed from the observation decks set up in various places. The autumn colors are particularly spectacular.
- Four Seasons of NatureEach season has its own charm: fresh greenery in spring, fresh greenery and the refreshing coolness of the mountain stream in early summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and silence in winter.
Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Train + Bus:The nearest station is Yoro Keikoku Station. From the city center, take JR trains heading towards Chiba, then take local trains and buses (routes and transfers vary depending on your departure point). Trains and buses do not run frequently, so be sure to check the timetables in advance.
- car:From Tokyo, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours via the Tateyama Expressway and other expressways (depending on traffic conditions). Access is also possible via national and prefectural roads, and there are several parking lots on-site, but they may be full during peak seasons.
- Local buses and shuttles:Special buses and tourist shuttles may operate on weekends and during the autumn foliage season. Please check official information for bus times and operating days.

- Otaki Castle: A historical spot in Otaki Town. There is a castle ruin and a museum, where you can learn about the history of the area.
- Accommodations and day trip facilities in Yoro Onsen: Convenient for taking a hot spring bath after exploring the valley.
- Boso tourist spots (tour): This tour can be combined with other popular spots on the Boso Peninsula, such as Mother Farm and Nomizo Falls (Kameiwa Cave) (traveling by car is recommended).
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- congestion:It gets very crowded during the autumn foliage season (around November) and on long weekends. Parking lots and buses fill up quickly, so we recommend leaving early in the morning or visiting on a weekday.
- Clothing and equipment:The trail is uneven and muddy in places, and has steep steps, so it is recommended to wear non-slip shoes (such as trekking shoes) and comfortable clothing. It can become especially slippery after rain.
- Nature Conservation and Manners:Please be sure to take your trash with you and avoid damaging vegetation or rocks. Please refrain from camping or making open fires in mountain streams without permission.
- Safety management:When the water level rises, the current can be fast and dangerous. Please take basic safety precautions, such as not getting too close to the river, keeping an eye on children, and avoiding walking alone.
- traffic:Public transportation is limited, so please check the return time before making your plans. Some sections of the road are dark at night.
- Insects and Wild Animals:In the summer, you need to take measures against insects (insect repellent, long sleeves, etc.), and in mountainous areas you also need to be careful of ticks.
