Jogasaki Coast, located in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a scenic coastal spot representative of the Izu Peninsula. It is characterized by sheer cliffs stretching for about 1-2 km and strange rock formations formed by the erosion of dark basalt and lava, and the contrast between the rough sea and the cliffs is captivating. The coastline was formed by volcanic activity and marine erosion, and its unique landscape has been created over many years.
The view from Kadowaki Suspension Bridge is particularly popular, and is known as a tourist postcard and photo spot. One of Jogasaki's great attractions is being able to directly feel the sea breeze and the sound of the waves while walking along the promenade (picnical course).

- Coastal Promenade (Picnical Course): A promenade along the cliffs that can be walked in sneakers. There are multiple observation points, making it ideal for a stroll.
- Strange rocks and cliffs: The unique rock formations formed by the erosion of black lava, and the sight of the waves crashing on the shore are a sight to behold.
- Sunset and morning views: On clear days, the sea and sky turn red at dusk, making it a popular time for photography. In winter, the air is clear and the distant scenery looks beautiful.
- Bird and plant observation: You may see seabirds and plants that can withstand the sea breeze, making it a good place for nature observation.
Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Train: The nearest stations are Ito Station or Izukogen Station on the JR Ito Line or Izukyu Line. From Ito Station, it is common to travel by bus or taxi. Direct trains from the Tokyo area are also convenient, taking the JR or the Odoriko limited express train.
- Bus: Take the Izukyu Bus from Ito Station or Izukogen Station to Jogasaki or Kadowaki (Suspension Bridge). The number of buses varies depending on the season and time of day, so we recommend checking in advance.
- By car: Take the Tomei Expressway or Shin-Tomei Expressway from the direction of Numazu or Atami and use the national or prefectural roads. There may be paid or free parking lots (tourist parking lots or temporary parking lots) on-site.
- Taxi: Approximately 15-25 minutes by taxi from Ito Station or Izukogen Station (depending on traffic conditions).

- Short sightseeing (only Kadowaki Suspension Bridge and major viewpoints): Approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour
- A leisurely stroll along the promenade (round trip, visiting observation points): about 1-2 hours
- If you plan to combine your visit with other sightseeing spots in the area (such as Mt. Omuroyama and Izu Kogen): Half a day to a full day

- Izukogen area: An area perfect for strolling, with many galleries, cafes, and accommodations.
- Mount Omuro: A volcanic crater with a lift to the top, offering 360-degree views.
- Izu Cactus Zoo (Izu Cactus Park): A theme park where you can enjoy animals and plants.
- Ito Onsen Town: With plenty of hot spring inns, foot baths, and restaurants, it's a convenient place to stay after sightseeing in Jogasaki.
- Yawatano Underwater Park: A base spot for diving and snorkeling.
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Safety: Visiting cliffs and cliff edges is extremely dangerous. Do not enter fenced or restricted areas. On high waves, be careful of swells and strong winds.
- Safety precautions: Some parts of the trail are rocky, have stairs, and are slippery. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes (sneakers or trekking shoes).
- Weather and season: Winter is often windy and cold, and summer is sunny, so bring a hat and drinks. The roads can be slippery after rain.
- Crowds: It gets crowded on weekends and consecutive holidays (Golden Week, summer vacation, autumn foliage season). If you want to enjoy the view in peace and quiet, we recommend going on weekdays or early in the morning or evening.
- Environmental conservation and etiquette: Please take your trash with you and avoid harming the natural environment, flora and fauna. If you have pets, please remember to keep them on a leash and clean up their waste.
- Accessibility: The cliffside promenade has many steps and narrow sections, making it difficult for wheelchairs and strollers to navigate. Please check the route and observation deck conditions in advance.
