Nakajima Park (Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido) — Overview (History, Features, and Attractions)
Nakajima Park, located in Sapporo's Chuo Ward, is one of the city's leading urban parks, and is a place of relaxation where natural scenery and cultural facilities are harmonized, with Nakajima Pond, which spreads across the city center, at its core. Developed from the Meiji to Taisho periods onwards, it has been popular with locals and tourists for many years. The park is dotted with cultural facilities such as a Japanese garden, teahouse, and concert hall (Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara), and its greatest appeal is the ability to enjoy the changing scenery throughout the seasons.

- Nakajima Pond (Boat Pond) You can take a leisurely stroll around the pond, and in the summer you can enjoy boating (for a fee) and the lotus flowers, and in the winter you can enjoy the snowy scenery and the silvery white scenery across the pond.
- Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara — A music venue where domestic and international concerts are held. Its architecture and acoustics are highly acclaimed, so it's recommended to visit during a performance.
- Japanese gardens and tea houses (Hassoan and others) — The traditional garden space has a calming atmosphere. The area around the teahouse is also a popular photo spot.
- Seasonal flowers and nature trails Each season shows a different side of the park: cherry blossoms in spring, greenery after the rainy season, lotus flowers and irises in summer, autumn leaves, and snowy scenery in winter.
- Children's playground, play equipment, benches — It has facilities suitable for families and picnics, making it a place of relaxation for local residents.
- Events and outdoor events - Concerts, seasonal events, and local events may be held (please check in advance for details).
Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- subway — It's just a short walk from Nakajima Koen Station on the Namboku Subway Line. It's also within walking distance of Susukino, making it very accessible.
- bus — There are city buses that stop around Nakajima Park. Please check the route depending on your destination and departure point.
- Cars and parking — There are paid parking lots around Nakajima Park, but they can get crowded on weekends and during events, so we recommend using public transportation.
- Walking — It is within walking distance of the Susukino area and Odori Park, so it is easy to combine your stay with sightseeing in the surrounding area.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- congestion — It gets crowded during cherry blossom viewing season, autumn foliage season, concert days, and long weekends. Benches and parking lots in particular can fill up quickly.
- Manners — Please take your trash home or dispose of it in the designated trash can. Pets are allowed, but please follow the rules, such as cleaning up their droppings and keeping them on a leash. There are areas where you are not allowed to enter the grass and areas where the use of fire is prohibited, so please follow the signs.
- Boat and facility use — Please note that there is a fee for using the boat and there are operating periods, so please check the opening hours and fees in advance. The facilities (tea house and hall) may be closed due to events or private reservations.
- Seasonal precautions — In winter, snow and ice can make sidewalks slippery. Take measures to protect yourself from the cold and slip-resistant clothing. In summer, you need to protect yourself from insects (mosquitoes) and the sun.
- Disaster prevention/safety — The area around the pond can be wet and slippery. Please be especially careful if you are traveling with small children or the elderly.
