Overview (History, Features, and Attractions) Tsushima (Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture) is an island located roughly halfway between mainland Kyushu and the Korean Peninsula. Its rich natural environment, interwoven with the sea and mountains, is characterized by its rich history and culture. In ancient times, Tsushima Province was ruled by its own lord (the So clan), who was involved in trade and diplomacy with the Korean Peninsula, and was a formidable fortification against the Mongol invasions of Japan in 1274 and 1281.
