Echizen Ono Castle (Ono City, Fukui Prefecture)
Overview (History, Features, and Attractions) Echizen Ono Castle is a mountain castle built on the summit of Shiroyama (approximately 249 meters above sea level) in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. Its origins lie in a castle built during the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. Its construction is said to have been initiated by Kanamori Nagachika and others in the late 16th century, and it was established as a castle town in the area surrounding Ono.
