Shibata Castle (Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture)
Overview (History, Features, and Attractions) Shibata Castle is a castle ruin located in Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture. During the Edo period, it prospered as the seat of government for the Shibata Domain. While retaining its foundations from the Sengoku period, it was renovated by the domain's lord, Mizoguchi, during the Edo period, and is a typical flatland castle surrounded by moats and earthworks.
