Overview (History, Features, and Attractions) Tono Furusato Village is an open-air folk museum-like facility in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture, that preserves and exhibits the thatched roof houses, household tools, and folk culture of the traditional farming communities of the Tono region. The village is dotted with relocated and restored thatched-roof houses from the Edo and Meiji periods, giving visitors a taste of the past. -

Since Kunio Yanagita's "Tono Monogatari" (1910), which introduced the folklore of Tono, Kappabuchi has come to be seen as a place connected to folklore.
