Heirinji Temple (Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture)
[Overview (History, Features, and Attractions)] Heirinji is a Zen temple located in Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture. It is characterized by its vast surrounding woodland (Heirinjirin) and tranquil grounds. It is said to have been founded long ago and has a history spanning the Muromachi and Sengoku periods. Since the Edo period, it has been preserved as a satoyama (satoyama forest) on the outskirts of the city.
