Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Tsurunomai Bridge is a wooden pedestrian-only arch bridge located in Tsuruta Town, Aomori Prefecture. Its graceful curves evoke the image of dancing cranes and its reflection on the water's surface are distinctive features. With a total length of approximately 300 meters, it is known as one of the longest wooden footbridges in Japan and has been developed as a tourist attraction for the region. Surrounded by farmland and reservoirs, it is a popular photo spot, showcasing a variety of seasonal scenes, including cherry blossoms, fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and snowscapes.
Highlights
- Symmetry of the bridge reflected on the water surface: In the early morning when there is no wind, the bridge is reflected on the mirror-like water surface, making for fantastical photos.
- Morning mist and light effects: Fog is likely to form in the early mornings from autumn to winter, and the scenery created by the bridge, mist, and mountains in the distance is captivating.
- Enjoy the different atmospheres of each season: cherry blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, autumn leaves, and snowy scenery in winter.
- Evening and night views: The silhouette against the soft evening light and crimson sky is also recommended (illumination may vary depending on the season and events).
- Viewpoint: You can take photos with different compositions from the middle of the bridge or from the promenade on the opposite bank. Including Mt. Iwaki (on a clear day) in the distance makes a beautiful picture.
