Kora Taisha is a historic shrine located near the summit of Mount Kora in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Since ancient times, it has been revered as the guardian deity of the region, and the scenery of the shrine grounds on the mountain and the approach to the shrine are distinctive. The stone steps, torii gates, and shrine buildings on the approach create a picturesque landscape, and there are also places within the shrine grounds where you can get a panoramic view of Kurume city and the Chikugo Plain. The shrine's charm lies in its ability to immerse you in local faith and culture through the changing nature of the seasons and the religious ceremonies and festivals.

- Approach and torii gates: A series of stone steps and torii gates surrounded by old trees. The approach leading to the top of the mountain is charming even just to stroll along.
- Main hall and worship hall: A stately shrine building with traditional Shinto architecture. You can worship in a solemn atmosphere.
- View from the temple grounds: If the weather is good, there is an observation spot where you can see Kurume city and the Chikugo Plain.
- Giant trees and nature: The large trees and seasonal flowers that remain in the shrine grove. The fresh greenery of spring and the colorful leaves of autumn are beautiful.
- Gift Shop (Charms and Ema): Here you can see charms for various purposes, such as safe travels and prosperous business, as well as votive plaques left by worshippers.
- Festivals: The area is especially lively on festival days when local people gather, such as the annual festival and New Year's first shrine visit (it is recommended to check the dates in advance).
Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- The nearest major stations are JR Kurume Station (JR Kyushu) and Nishitetsu Kurume Station (Nishitetsu Tenjin-Omuta Line). Both stations are accessible.
- Bus: Take a Kurume City bus (such as Nishitetsu Bus) bound for Takara Taisha Shrine, get off at the nearest bus stop, and walk to the approach to the shrine. Routes and times change depending on the season and whether it is a weekday or a holiday, so please check the bus timetable in advance.
- Taxi: From Kurume Station, it takes about 15 to 30 minutes by taxi (depending on traffic conditions) to get to the base or near the top of the mountain.
- By car: Approximately 20 minutes by car from the Kurume IC on the Kyushu Expressway (depending on road conditions). There is a parking lot near the temple grounds, but it gets crowded during festivals and the New Year's visit.
- Walking: There is a route that involves walking up the approach from the foot of the mountain, but as there are many stone steps and slopes, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

- Short visit: 30-45 minutes (visit the shrine, use the gift shop, and take a short walk)
- A leisurely stroll: 1-2 hours (wandering around the temple grounds, enjoying the view, taking photos, and walking around the surrounding area)
- During festivals and special viewings: Half a day or more (may take longer depending on crowds and event content)

- Ishibashi Cultural Center and Kurume City Museum of Art: A park and cultural facility in the center of Kurume City. Enjoy gardens and art exhibitions.

- Chikugo River banks (walking area): Recommended as a spot for exploring the nearby nature.
- Kurume Castle Ruins and Historical Sites in the Castle Town: Historical spots and sites are scattered throughout the city.
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: The area gets extremely crowded during events such as New Year's Day and annual festivals. Traffic restrictions and temporary parking lots may be in place, so please check official information in advance.
- Clothing and shoes: The approach to the shrine has many stone steps and slopes, so wear comfortable shoes. Be careful as the path can be slippery in rainy weather.
- Manners at the worship hall: Please observe basic shrine etiquette, such as bowing at the torii gate and purifying yourself at the temizuya (purification fountain). Please try to be quiet within the sacred grounds.
- Photography: Photography is permitted in many areas within the temple grounds, but please avoid taking photos during religious ceremonies or in restricted areas and follow the signs.
- Seasonal precautions: Take precautions against the heat in summer, and be careful of wind and frozen roads (rare) in winter. Spring and autumn are tourist seasons and the area may be crowded.
- Offering office and visiting hours: The shrine office counter (for prayers and offerings) may have set opening hours. If you wish to receive a goshuin or prayer, please check the opening hours on the official website or at the site.
