Akame Shijuhachitaki (48 Waterfalls) is a series of valleys and waterfalls in Akame Town, Nabari City, Mie Prefecture. The name "48 Waterfalls" symbolizes the large number of waterfalls. The landscape, interwoven with waterfalls and pools of various sizes carved into the rocks by clear streams, moss-covered rock faces, and lush groves, changes with the seasons, and has long been a popular place for ascetic practices, training, and sightseeing. Efforts are being made to preserve the natural landscape, and the area is a popular spot for forest bathing, waterfall tours, photography, and hiking. Many sections of the valley footpaths, with varying elevations, are well-maintained, allowing you to visit the most famous waterfalls in a relatively short amount of time.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Train: The nearest station is Akameguchi Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the station to the entrance of the waterfall. Depending on the season, shuttle buses and special buses may depart from in front of the station.
- Bus/Taxi: Accessible from Akame-guchi Station by local bus or taxi. A taxi is convenient if you have luggage or small children.
- By car: Accessible via the national highway or expressway heading towards Nabari. Paid and free parking is available on-site, but we recommend arriving early during peak season.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Clothing and equipment: There are many slippery areas and stone steps, so wear trekking shoes or non-slip shoes and comfortable clothing. Be careful after rain as the trail can be especially slippery.
- Crowds: It gets crowded during the autumn foliage season, on weekends, and on consecutive holidays, and the parking lot may fill up, so it is recommended to leave early.
- Manners: To protect the environment, please be sure to take your trash with you, avoid damaging vegetation and rocks, and refrain from shouting. Avoid eating, drinking, or using fire outside of designated areas.
- Safety: Entering the pools of waterfalls and swimming without permission may be prohibited. Reckless behavior in rivers and rocky areas is dangerous.
- Seasonal precautions: In summer, be sure to bring insect repellent and take precautions against heatstroke, in autumn, fallen leaves can be slippery, and in winter, there is a possibility of freezing and sections may be closed or blocked off, so please check in advance.
- Facility information: Toilets and shops are located near the entrance, but are limited upstream, so be sure to prepare in advance (drinks, snacks, cash, etc.).
