Mount Nose Myoken (Nose Town, Toyono District, Osaka Prefecture)
Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Mount Nose Myoken is a sacred mountain located in Nose Town in northern Osaka Prefecture, and has long been known as a sacred site for Myoken faith (a faith that regards the North Star, or Big Dipper, as its principal deity). The mountain is home to Myoken-do (Myoken-ji Temple and Myoken-sha Shrine), a path leading to the shrine, and an observation deck, and offers seasonal enjoyment, including worship, hiking, and autumn leaf viewing. Relatively easy to access from downtown Osaka, and easy access to the summit via cable car or lift, it is a popular spot for families, hikers, and photography enthusiasts.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- congestion: Especially during the autumn foliage season (around November) and on weekends during the tourist season, the number of visitors and tourists increases, resulting in waiting times for parking and cable cars. If possible, we recommend visiting on a weekday or early in the morning.
- Clothing and equipment:The temperature on the mountain is lower than on the ground, and there are also days when the wind is strong. Please prepare a jacket appropriate for the season, comfortable shoes, and rain gear. If you are hiking, please wear clothes appropriate for the terrain and drink plenty of water.
- Worship etiquette: Please observe general worship etiquette at temples and shrines (remain quiet, take your trash with you, and take photos with proper etiquette). Please also be considerate of areas within the temple grounds where offerings and rituals are made.
- Conservation of the natural environmentPlease follow basic rules such as being considerate of vegetation and wildlife, staying on designated trails, and taking your trash with you.
- Transportation and Timetable: Public transportation and cable/lift services may change or be suspended depending on the season and weather. Please check official information (such as the Nose Electric Railway or Myoken no Mori guide) before setting off.
- Winter precautionsSnow and ice can make the roads slippery. Please be especially careful of your footing in winter, and consider using crampons if necessary.
(Note) Actual transportation times, cable and lift operation status, parking availability, and event information may change depending on the season. We recommend checking the official website or Nose Town tourist information site for the latest information before visiting.
