Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Takeshima is a small island in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture, and is a popular walking spot connected to the mainland by a long bridge. The island has long been a place of worship, with shrines (including a small shrine dedicated to Benzaiten) and is affectionately known locally as "Takeshima Benten." The island is attractive for its unique scenery, a small island floating in the sea, and its promenade, where you can walk while listening to the sound of the waves and feeling the breeze. With the calm seascape of Mikawa Bay and the opportunity to see Mount Fuji in the distance on clear days, it is also a popular photo spot.
