Ryuzu Falls is a tourist attraction near Lake Chuzenji in the Oku-Nikko area of Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. Its name comes from the fact that the waterfall splits into two streams, resembling a dragon's head, and it has long been a popular natural scenic spot. The waterfall falls in steps down a mountain stream, and a walking trail runs from upstream to downstream, offering a charming view that changes with the seasons (fresh greenery, clear streams, autumn leaves, and snowy scenery). It is especially popular in autumn, when the leaves change color and the scenery along the shores of Lake Chuzenji becomes even more beautiful.

- Nearest major station: Tobu Nikko Station / JR Nikko Station (both are called "Nikko" Station)
– Access by bus (Tobu Bus or JR Bus) from Nikko Station or Tobu Nikko Station bound for Lake Chuzenji or Yumoto Onsen. Get off at the bus stop near Ryuzu Falls. The journey takes approximately 40 to 60 minutes (varies depending on the route and number of stops).
– Buses can get crowded during peak tourist season, so please allow yourself plenty of time.
– Car:
- Take the Nikko-Utsunomiya Expressway (Nikko IC) or a public road (such as National Route 120) towards Lake Chuzenji. There is a parking lot (both paid and free) near the waterfall, but it tends to fill up during the autumn foliage season.
– On foot:
– It is also possible to walk from Lake Chuzenji or nearby tourist spots (such as Kegon Falls). The distance and required time will depend on the starting point.

- Crowds: It gets very crowded, especially during the autumn foliage season from mid-October to early November. If you plan to visit early in the morning or in the evening, you can enjoy the view at a leisurely pace.
- Footing: The walking path can be slippery when wet, so be especially careful on stone steps and rocky areas. We recommend wearing comfortable, non-slip shoes.
- Weather and clothing: Please bring warm clothes and rain gear as the altitude is high and the weather can change drastically. In winter, roads may be frozen or snow may accumulate, resulting in road closures and access restrictions.
- Manners: To protect the environment, please take your trash with you and do not touch the plants or animals. It is dangerous to go outside the walking paths or play near the water.
- Transportation: Buses may be less frequent on weekdays and off-season, so please check the return timetable in advance. Parking lots may fill up during peak times.
