Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
The Fukuoka Art Museum is a public art museum located adjacent to Ohori Park (Maizuru Park) in Fukuoka City's Chuo Ward. Its role is to store and exhibit works rooted in the local community, and to introduce outstanding works from Japan and abroad. Since its founding, the museum has housed a wide range of works, including paintings, sculptures, prints, and crafts, and is characterized by its permanent exhibitions featuring modern and contemporary Japanese art as well as works from Asia and the West, as well as the regular holding of highly themed special exhibitions. Its location overlooking the greenery and pond of Ohori Park makes it ideal for strolling between viewings, and it is a popular cultural hub for the region, beloved by both local residents and tourists alike.

Highlights
– Permanent Exhibition: Presents a wide range of collections, focusing on artists with ties to Fukuoka and modern and contemporary Japanese art (contents change with changing exhibits).
- Special exhibitions: We host many themed exhibitions and exhibitions inviting artists from Japan and overseas, and we also hold highly topical exhibitions. Large-scale exhibitions sometimes feature rare masterpieces.
– Ohori Park scenery: A walking route that connects the gardens and ponds surrounding the museum. You can relax in the park after viewing the exhibits.
– Museum Shop/Café: A shop where you can purchase exhibition catalogues and original goods, and a café where you can have a light meal or take a break (business hours vary by facility, so it is recommended to check in advance).
- Workshops and Gallery Talks: There are also a wide range of educational activities, including programs for families and information sessions by curators.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Subway: The nearest station is Ohori Park Station on the Fukuoka Municipal Subway (Airport Line), about a 5-minute walk away.
- Bus: There are many bus routes from Tenjin and Hakata, and you can get off at "Ohori Park" or the surrounding bus stop and walk there.
- By car: There is a parking lot nearby, but the area tends to get crowded during tourist season and on weekends, so we recommend using public transportation.
(*Please check the official website or route guide for the latest information on specific transfers, bus numbers, parking fees, etc. before visiting.)

Estimated stay (estimated time required)
– Permanent exhibition only: Approximately 60 to 90 minutes
– If special exhibitions and exhibitions are included: 90 minutes to 3 hours (depending on the scale of the exhibition and the level of interest)
– If you include strolling around the park and visiting the cafe, you can enjoy a relaxing half to full day here.

Nearby spots
– Ohori Park: A place of relaxation for local residents, with walking paths and a boat dock surrounding the pond. It is also a famous spot for viewing cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
– Maizuru Park (Fukuoka Castle Ruins): With stone walls, walking paths through the castle ruins, and observation spots, it is ideal for a historical stroll.
- Fukuoka Asian Art Museum: Located along the Hakata River in Nakasu, this museum features a collection specializing in Asian art (a few minutes by subway, with one transfer).
– Tenjin area: A shopping and gourmet hub. A great place to stop by before or after an art appreciation session.
– Other: Fukuoka City Museum, historical sites and cafes around Maizuru Park, etc.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Manners in the exhibition room: Please observe the rules such as not taking photos of the exhibits (in exhibition areas where photography is permitted there are signs posted), not touching the exhibits, and not eating or drinking.
- Crowds: The museum tends to be crowded during popular special exhibitions, weekends, public holidays, cherry blossom season in spring, Golden Week, and autumn foliage season. Admission restrictions may be imposed and advance reservations may be required. We recommend checking the official website in advance and making reservations.
- Luggage/strollers: You may be asked to leave large luggage in a locker or cloakroom. Please follow the venue guidelines regarding whether or not you can bring in or pass through with strollers.
– Accessibility: Like many public museums, many are wheelchair accessible and have elevators, but be sure to check in advance for details.
– Clothing appropriate for the weather and season: If you plan to walk outdoors in a park, it is a good idea to bring clothing appropriate for the weather (rain gear and comfortable walking shoes).
- Check the latest information: Closing days, opening hours, exhibition periods and fees may change, so please check the latest information on the official website or by phone before visiting.

(Supplementary information) Example of a visit plan
– We recommend a one-day itinerary that includes a morning stroll around Ohori Park, viewing the permanent and special exhibitions at the art museum, taking a break at a cafe, and spending the afternoon dining and shopping in Tenjin.

If needed, I can also create a link to the official website, up-to-date information on opening times and admission fees, and a brief text (for copying and pasting) for a map of the area.
