Kehi Shrine is an ancient shrine in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, that has long been worshipped as the main guardian deity of the region. It is particularly revered as the guardian deity of maritime traffic safety and of shipping and fishing. - Crowds: The shrine gets crowded on event days such as New Year's visits and festivals. If you want to avoid the crowds, we recommend visiting on weekdays or early in the morning.
- Worship Manners: Please observe general shrine etiquette, such as bowing when passing through the torii gate and purifying yourself at the temizuya (purification of the water basin). Please also observe proper etiquette when praying in front of the worship hall and offering money.
- Photography: Photography is permitted in most areas of the temple grounds, but there may be restrictions on photography inside the worship hall, during festivals, or in areas where related parties are present. Please follow the signs and directions, and check with the shrine office if necessary.
- Seasonal precautions: In winter, the northwesterly seasonal winds are strong and the temperatures can be severe. There are some slippery areas, so please take measures to protect yourself from the cold and slip. During the rainy season or when a typhoon is approaching, please be careful of the trees and your footing within the temple grounds.
