Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Gongendo Tsutsumi is a tourist spot in Satte City, Saitama Prefecture, known for its rows of cherry blossom trees along the bank and the surrounding flower fields. The bank was developed during the Edo period for flood control and farmland conservation, and is now Gongendo Park, a park space where you can enjoy seasonal flowers. The contrast between the Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms and rape blossoms in spring is particularly famous, and the approximately 1km-long row of cherry blossom trees creates a spectacular sight. It is a popular flower spot not only in spring, but throughout the year, with hydrangeas in early summer (Hydrangea Path) and cluster amaryllis (Red Spider Lily) in autumn.
Highlights
- Cherry blossoms and rape blossoms collide: Spring (late March to early April) is the peak season. When in full bloom, the tunnel of cherry blossoms and the yellow rape blossoms at your feet make a vibrant photo spot.
- Embankment walking path: The approximately 1 km long walking path is suitable for walking or jogging, and the view from the top of the embankment is open and spacious.
- Hydrangea Path: Hydrangeas bloom in early summer (around June), creating a picturesque scene during the rainy season.
- Cluster amaryllis: In autumn (mid- to late September), the banks are decorated with red cluster amaryllis. The charm of this place is that it changes its appearance with each season.
- Photo spots: We recommend taking bird's-eye shots from the front of the rows of cherry blossom trees, on benches on the bank, or from bridges and paths. The light is soft in the early morning and evening, making for great photos.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)

- Manners: Please be sure to take your trash with you or dispose of it in the designated trash cans. Please refrain from breaking cherry blossom branches or flowers, reserving spots in undesignated areas, or using fires. When walking dogs, please keep them on a leash and be sure to clean up any waste.
- Note regarding the event period: Food stalls will be set up during the Cherry Blossom Festival, but traffic restrictions and temporary parking lots may be in place. Please check the Satte City official website in advance for information on the event dates and restrictions.
- What to wear and bring: The sun can be strong in spring, so bring a hat and sunscreen. After rain, the banks and embankments can become muddy, so wear comfortable shoes.
- Use of drones, etc.: Flying unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) may be restricted. Please check and obtain permission in advance to avoid causing inconvenience to others.
- Consideration when taking photos: Please refrain from using tripods for long periods of time in crowded areas or taking photos that obstruct passage, and be considerate of other visitors taking photos and viewing the exhibits.
