Following Mount Fuji's registration as a World Cultural Heritage site, this is an educational and information center that was established to deepen a broad understanding of the nature, faith, culture, and history of Mount Fuji. The center features a modern exhibit layout that uses videos, models, explanatory panels, interactive exhibits, and more, making it easy for people of all ages and genders to learn about Mount Fuji. The center also provides tourist information, introduces local culture, and hosts events and workshops, making it a highly appealing tourist base.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)

  • Nearest station: About 10-15 minutes on foot from Fujinomiya Station on the JR Minobu Line (directions are available from the station).
  • Bus: Local buses and sightseeing buses may be available from Fujinomiya Station, so please check the schedule accordingly.
  • By car: Accessible from the Tomei Expressway and the Shin-Tomei Expressway. Depending on traffic conditions, it takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes from the expressway interchange. Parking is available around the building (please note that there are limited spaces available, so if it is crowded, please use a nearby municipal parking lot).
  • Bicycle/walking: The location is easy to access as a walking route from the center of Fujinomiya city or Sengen Taisha Shrine.
  • Opening hours, admission fees, etc.: Hours, closing days, and admission fees may change, so please check the official website or facility for the latest information before visiting.

Estimated stay (estimated time required)

  • Short visit: 30-45 minutes (viewing only the film and main exhibits)
  • Thorough viewing: 1-2 hours (take your time to look at all exhibits, including the video, and visit the museum shop and surrounding area)
  • If you plan to attend workshops or view materials, more time may be required.

Nearby spots

  • Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine: This is the central shrine of Fuji worship, and is ideal for strolling around the grounds and exploring history (within walking distance).
  • Shiraito Falls and Otodome Falls: Famous waterfalls overflowing with natural beauty. Located about 20 minutes away by car, you can enjoy the scenery of the four seasons.
  • Asagiri Plateau: An area with views of Mt. Fuji and dairy farming. Recommended for driving and outdoor activities.
  • Famous Fujinomiya Yakisoba Restaurant: There are many restaurants where you can enjoy local cuisine. Perfect for a meal after visiting the center.
  • Viewpoints and tourist facilities around Mt. Fuji: If you have time, you can deepen your understanding by visiting the surrounding observation decks and museums as well.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)

  • Crowds: It tends to get crowded on weekends, holidays, Golden Week, and during the summer tourist season. There may be a limit on the number of people allowed in the video facilities, so please arrive early.
  • Weather: Mount Fuji is often not visible due to weather conditions. If you are hoping to see the view of Mount Fuji, please check the weather forecast.
  • Photography and Touching Etiquette: Please follow the directions of the staff and signs when taking photos of exhibits in the museum, as some exhibits may be touched and others may not.
  • Handling of mountain climbing information: The information obtained here is useful, but if you are planning to climb a mountain, be sure to check weather information, the latest conditions of the mountain trails, and the equipment beforehand, and prepare at your own risk. The climbing season (generally summer) is crowded, so act early and check for safety.
  • Environmental conservation: In order to protect the natural environment and cultural assets of Mount Fuji, please follow the rules, such as taking your trash with you and not entering restricted areas.
