This is a typical fumarolic zone of the Hakone volcano, and is known for its rugged scenery with the smell of sulfur and rising smoke. It is popular for its famous black eggs and the view of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi from the observation deck, but it is notable that access restrictions are sometimes implemented due to geothermal activity.

access
Access the Hakone Ropeway via the Togendai/Souunzan Line. You can also take a bus from Togendai or Hakone-Yumoto, or if you're driving, walk from the parking lot. Roads and the ropeway can get crowded during the tourist season.
