Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Yumenoshima Park (Koto Ward, Tokyo) is an urban park created by developing reclaimed land off the coast of Tokyo Bay. Known as an example of former reclaimed land being converted into green space and recreational facilities, its greatest appeal is the open feeling of being close to the sea while still being close to the city center. The park includes a large lawn, sports facilities, barbecue areas, and the Yumenoshima Tropical Botanical Garden, which is equipped with a greenhouse, making it suitable for strolling, leisure, and learning throughout the year. In addition to being a place to relax and feel the sea breeze, it is also popular as a place to bring children, play sports, and take photos.
Highlights
- Yumenoshima Tropical Botanical Garden (Greenhouse): A great place to enjoy tropical and subtropical plants and orchids, even on rainy days (fees apply and opening hours apply).
- Lawn square and walking path: Enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll on the spacious lawn. There is also a walking course with views of the sea.
- Sports facilities: There are baseball fields, multi-purpose fields, tennis courts, and other facilities, so many people visit for exercise. Tournaments and events are sometimes held here.
