Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
KITTE is a commercial facility located in Marunouchi, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, which opened in 2013 as part of the JP Tower. The facility's name, "KITTE," comes from the Japanese word for "stamp," and the facility's distinctive features are the history of Japan Post and its postal-themed concept. The exterior and some of the structure have been redeveloped to make use of the historical elements of the former Tokyo Central Post Office, blending the calm atmosphere of the Marunouchi area with a modern commercial space.
The building is home to a variety of shops, including select shops, Japanese goods and souvenir shops, stationery stores, cafes, and restaurants, and many stores selling local specialties and limited edition items from around Japan, making it a great place to enjoy shopping and gourmet food. The rooftop "KITTE Garden" also offers a view of the red brick building of Tokyo Station, making it a popular spot for tourists.
