The whirlpools that form in the Naruto Strait are a natural phenomenon that can become some of the largest in the world when there is a large difference between high and low tides. It's about 30-40 minutes by JR or bus from Tokushima Station, or by bus or taxi from Naruto Station. It takes about 2-3 hours by highway from Osaka or Kobe. The operation of the tide-sightseeing boats varies depending on the season and time of day, so please check in advance.
Estimated stay
A tour of the tide observation boat and Uzunomichi will take about half a day, but if you include sightseeing in the surrounding area, you can leisurely explore the area in a full day.

Points to note
The appearance of the whirlpools changes greatly with the tides. The tide-filled boat will rock, so please take precautions against seasickness. Also, be sure to take precautions against the sun in summer and the sea breeze in winter.
