Tatebayashi Tsutsujigaoka Park (Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture) is known for its colorful azaleas planted all over the slopes, creating a stunning carpet of flowers in spring. A beloved azalea spot in the area for many years, the large-scale azalea garden boasts a wide variety of varieties, attracting many tourists every year. The park's appeal lies in the plantings and walking paths that take advantage of the undulating slopes, as well as the views from observation points, and when in full bloom, the town is adorned with a blanket of pink, red, and white flowers.

- Azaleas blooming in clusters all over the slope: the contrast of colors is beautiful and there are many photo opportunities.
- Azalea Festival: Held every spring (mainly mid-April to early May), the azalea features illuminations, stalls, and events (the timing varies from year to year).
- Walking trails and observation points: There are easy walking trails within the park, and from the top of the hill you can enjoy views of the town of Tatebayashi and the surrounding area.
- Seasonal changes: In addition to the azaleas in spring, the park also displays different looks depending on the season, so even just taking a leisurely stroll can be enjoyable.
Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Nearest station: Tatebayashi Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line (located in the center of Tatebayashi City). From the station, you can take a bus, taxi, or walk to the park.
- Bus/Taxi: You can get to the park entrance from Tatebayashi Station by local bus or taxi. During the azalea flowering season, special buses and shuttles may operate, so please check the official information beforehand.
- By car: Accessible from the Kan-Etsu Expressway/Kita-Kanto Expressway. Head on to the public roads from Tatebayashi IC. Although there is a parking lot, it is often crowded and full during the peak azalea viewing season and events, so we recommend using public transportation.
- Estimated travel time from central Tokyo: Approximately 1 to 1.5 hours by car, or 1 to 2 hours by train (Tobu Line, etc.) (varies depending on transfers and departure station).

- Short tour: 1 to 1.5 hours (photography and walking around only the main spots)
- Leisurely stroll: 2-3 hours (including leisurely walking along the trails and taking breaks and taking photos)

- Morinji Temple: A temple representing Tatebayashi, famous for the Bunpuku Chagama tea kettle and the Tanuki legend. It is relatively close to the park, making it convenient to visit both places.
- Around Tatara Swamp: An area where you can enjoy nature observation and strolling. It is also a popular spot for bird watching.
- Art museums and archives in Tatebayashi City: There are many facilities where you can learn about the history and culture of the region (please check opening times and exhibits in advance).

- Crowds: The park is extremely crowded during the peak viewing season (mainly mid-April to early May) and Golden Week. Please consider arriving early in the morning or on a weekday. Parking lots fill up quickly.
- Manners: Please observe general park etiquette, such as not breaking off flowers or branches, not entering planted areas, and taking your trash home (or to designated areas). When taking photos, please be considerate of other visitors.
- Pets: The rules for pets vary depending on the location. Please check in advance whether pets must be kept on a leash and whether they are allowed inside the park.
- Footwear and clothing: The park has many slopes and stairs, so we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Depending on the weather, there may be muddy or slippery areas.
- Climate and clothing: In spring, there is a large temperature difference between morning and evening. Don't forget to take measures against the cold and sun (a hat and plenty of water).
