Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Lake Kinrinko is a small brackish lake located in Yufuin Town, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture, and is one of the iconic tourist spots in the Yufuin hot spring town. The lake is formed by the mixing of hot spring water and groundwater, and is characterized by the steam (mist) rising from the lake's surface during periods when there is a large temperature difference between morning and evening. The lake was named after the way the surface of the lake shines golden due to the mist and the reflection of the morning sun, which resembles "golden scales."
Although it is small in size, it is known for its beautiful scenery, and shows different faces in each season. There are old inns, cafes, and walking paths around the area, and it is a popular course for strolling around Yufuin.

- Photography etiquette: Using tripods or occupying the area for long periods of time can be a nuisance when it is crowded. Please be considerate and do not disturb other tourists.
- Payment at facilities and stores: Small stores may only accept cash. Credit cards and electronic payments may not be accepted, so it's a good idea to have some cash on hand.
- Drones: Flying drones may be prohibited in many tourist areas and hot spring resorts, so please check in advance.
