Lake Ikeda is a caldera lake located in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is one of the deepest and largest lakes in Kyushu. It is said to have been formed by volcanic activity, and the scenery created by the surrounding mountains and the calm water surface is attractive throughout the year. The maximum depth is said to be about 233m, and the deep blue lake surface has a unique atmosphere.
The lake is also home to the legend of a lake monster called "Issie," which has become a popular tourist attraction. The lakeside is equipped with observation points, monuments, souvenir shops, and other facilities, making it a tourist destination that combines natural scenery with local folklore.

- Nearest station: Accessible from JR Ibusuki-Makurazaki Line's Ibusuki Station or Nigatsuda Station. Ibusuki Station is more convenient as a base for sightseeing.
- Train + bus/taxi: From Ibusuki Station, take a local bus or taxi for approximately 20-30 minutes (number of buses and travel time may vary depending on the time of day).
- By car: Approximately 60-90 minutes from central Kagoshima via National Route 226, and approximately 20 minutes from downtown Ibusuki. Parking is available near the lakeside tourist facilities and observation decks (limited space).
- Tourist buses: During the tourist season, sightseeing buses and tours may visit the area. Please check the operation and meeting points in advance.

- Swimming Not Recommended: The lake is deep and is generally not recommended for swimming. Please exercise caution when near the water for safety reasons.

- Parking and Transportation: Parking lots can get crowded on weekends and during peak tourist seasons. Avoid parking on the street as it is bad manners and dangerous.
