Okehazama Battlefield (Midori Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) — Overview (History, Features, and Attractions)
The Okehazama Battlefield is a historic site that marks the site of the Battle of Okehazama (1560), a major turning point in the Sengoku period. Known for being the site where Oda Nobunaga surprised Imagawa Yoshimoto and secured victory, the site is popular with history buffs and tourists as the site of a historic event that completely changed the balance of power in the Sengoku period, when daimyo ruled one castle per province. Today, the site has been renovated into a park, with stone monuments and memorials, and visitors can stroll around and tour the historic site as a place to remember the war situation at the time.
