This Sengoku period mountain castle has an impressive black-painted castle tower that has been designated a national treasure. It has retained its Edo period appearance well, and you can enjoy the history and scenery through the exhibits inside and outside, as well as the surrounding moat and gardens.

access

It is about a 15-minute walk from JR Matsumoto Station. You can also take the city loop bus or taxi. There are paid parking facilities nearby.

Estimated stay

It takes 1-2 hours to tour the castle tower and stroll around the area. Depending on the season and the exhibits, it may take about half a day.

Points to note

During busy periods, admission may be restricted due to crowding. The stairs to the castle tower are steep and slippery, so please watch your step and ensure safety, especially if you have children.
