Ancient legends remain about the temple's founding, and it is said to have a long history linked to the worship of the local guardian deity and Kannon. The combination of the tranquil atmosphere of the temple grounds and the lively shopping street (Gumyoji Shopping Street) on the approach to the temple is an appealing spot where you can get a feel for the lifestyle and culture of the local residents.
