Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Osarizawa Mine is a historic mine site in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, and was once one of Japan's leading mines, producing precious and non-ferrous metals (copper, silver, gold, lead, zinc, etc.). After a long history of mining, it is now open to the public as a tourist tunnel and museum, and is a popular tourist facility where you can see the actual tunnels. Its attractions include exhibits that convey the process of modernization and the work and lives of miners, as well as the opportunity to learn about mining technology and history, making it a recommended destination not only for mining enthusiasts but also for those who want to enjoy historical and industrial tourism.
