Shitennoji Temple, located in Tennoji Ward, Osaka City, is one of Japan's most famous ancient temples, and is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku (Prince Umayado) during the reign of Empress Suiko (although according to legend it was founded in 593, the first year of the reign of Empress Suiko). It is one of Japan's temples that has long been under national patronage, and has long been a beloved place of worship that transcends sects.
The current temple complex has been burned down and rebuilt several times, and is attractive for its buildings that recreate traditional styles, highlights such as the five-story pagoda, main hall, and inner gate, as well as the historical documents stored in the gardens and treasure museum within the temple grounds. Though located in the city, the tranquil temple grounds are perfect for strolling, and the temple is also famous for hosting local events such as a monthly antique market (flea market).

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- Tennoji Station on the JR, Kintetsu and subway lines: About 10-15 minutes on foot from JR Tennoji Station, the Midosuji Line, and the Tanimachi Line. Multiple lines are accessible, making it an easy location for sightseeing.
- Subway Tanimachi Line "Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka" Station: One of the closest stations, about a few minutes to 10 minutes on foot (travel time varies depending on the exit).
- Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line "Osaka Abenobashi (Abenobashi) Station":It is within walking distance and is easily accessible from the Tennoji area.
- bus: Bus stops such as "Shitennoji-mae" are available for Osaka City Buses and local bus routes.

- congestion: It gets crowded during the monthly antique market, New Year's visits to the shrine, spring events, and autumn foliage viewing. If you want to avoid the crowds, we recommend going on weekdays or early in the morning.
- Visitor etiquette: This is a religious facility. Please be quiet within the grounds and follow proper worship etiquette, such as offering incense and offering money. There are areas within the temple where photography is restricted, so please follow the signs.
