Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Sendai City Museum is a public museum that comprehensively introduces the history and culture of Sendai and its surrounding areas. It has a particularly rich collection of historical materials related to Date Masamune and the Sendai Domain, including weapons and armor, ancient documents, drawings, archaeological materials, and folk implements. The permanent exhibits offer a systematic look at the region's transition from ancient times to modern times, and regularly scheduled and special exhibitions are held, providing a deeper insight into the lifestyles, culture, and personalities of the time. The museum is located near the ruins of Aoba Castle (Sendai Castle), making it an attractive spot to combine a visit with a stroll around the historical site.
