Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Nakayama Racecourse (Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture) is one of the historic racecourses operated by the Japan Racing Association (JRA), and is an easily accessible spot to watch horse races near Tokyo. With a long history, it is known as the stage for many famous thoroughbred races. The course is undulating, and is particularly notable for the steep slope in the final straight (an uphill slope continuing from the final corner), making it popular with fans as a "tough course" that tests the abilities of both jockeys and horses.
