Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)

Mother Farm is a tourist ranch in Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, where visitors can enjoy flower fields that make the most of the vast hilly terrain, interact with animals, and enjoy shows and hands-on programs. Since its opening, it has developed into an "urban tourist ranch" that is easily accessible from urban areas. Its major attractions are the seasonal flower fields (rapeseed blossoms, poppies, sunflowers, cosmos, etc.) and the opportunity to interact with animals such as sheep, cows, goats, and alpacas, making it popular with families, couples, and photography enthusiasts.

Highlights

  • Interacting with animals: There are plenty of programs that allow you to get up close and personal with animals, including a sheep shearing show, feeding sheep, goats, and rabbits, and milking cows.
  • Sheepdog Show: Don't miss this impressive demonstration of trained dogs guiding sheep.
  • Seasonal flower fields: You can enjoy the scenery of flowers that decorate the wide slopes, such as rape blossoms and poppies in spring, sunflowers from early summer to summer, and cosmos in autumn. There are also many photo spots.
  • Activities: Horse riding experiences, tractor tours, mini golf, playground equipment and other activities for children are also available.
  • Food, Drinks and Local Products: Enjoy dairy products from the farm (soft ice cream, milk), Jingisukan (mutton barbecue), and other dishes made with local ingredients.
  • Views and Walks: The views from the hills are great, and if the weather is good you can see views of Tokyo Bay and Boso.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)

  • Train + Bus: The nearest train stations are Kisarazu Station and Kimitsu Station on the JR Uchibo Line. Local buses and special direct buses may operate from each station, but please check the timetable in advance as the number of buses is limited.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)

  • Crowds: The park is extremely crowded on weekends, national holidays, consecutive holidays, and during the spring and summer flower seasons. Parking lots may fill up and you may have to wait to enter, so we recommend arriving early or visiting on a weekday.
  • Animal etiquette: Follow the instructions of staff when feeding or interacting with animals. Chasing or forcibly picking up animals is dangerous and is often prohibited. Always wash your hands after interacting with animals.
  • Clothing: The ranch is hilly and there are some unstable areas. Please wear comfortable shoes (sneakers, etc.) and clothing appropriate for the weather. In summer, wear sun protection (a hat and sunscreen), and in winter, wear warm clothing.
  • Weather/Season: Outdoor activities may be canceled in the event of rain or strong winds. The best time to see the flowers varies from year to year, so please check the official website for the latest flowering information.
  • Pets: Rules regarding bringing pets vary by area. If you plan to bring pets, please check the pet care regulations and admission status beforehand.
  • Accessibility: Some areas have many slopes and steps. If you are using a wheelchair or stroller, we recommend checking the official accessibility information and services (rentals, etc.) in advance.

*Opening hours, admission fees, experience programs, and bus and parking information may change depending on the season and year. Please check the official website or local information in advance for the latest information, event schedules, and access details.
