Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)

Vantelin Dome Nagoya is an indoor dome stadium located in Higashi Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and is known as the home stadium of the professional baseball team, the Chunichi Dragons. It opened in 1997 and has since become a major multi-purpose facility hosting official baseball games, concerts, trade fairs, and various other events. In 2019, the name "Vantelin Dome Nagoya" was introduced due to naming rights.

As an all-weather indoor facility, it is not easily affected by rain or extreme heat or cold waves, making it a great attraction for people to watch games and participate in events in comfort regardless of the season. With a seating capacity of approximately 40,000 people, it can also accommodate large-scale concerts and national events.

Highlights

  • Watch a Chunichi Dragons home game: Experience the cheers, the theme song, and the passion of the local fans. You can enjoy the atmosphere even when the team is away.
  • A variety of events: Large-scale events such as concerts by domestic and international artists, exhibitions, and local events are frequently held here.
  • Stadium facilities: With a large screen, lighting, and sound system, you can feel the excitement even from seats far away. There is also a wide selection of gourmet food available within the stadium, including a shop selling Nagoya cuisine and limited-edition menus.
  • Shopping and dining: There is a shopping mall (AEON Mall Nagoya Dome Mae) in front of the dome, which is convenient for eating, shopping, and purchasing merchandise.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)

  • Subway: Approximately 3-5 minutes on foot from Nagoya Dome-mae Yada Station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijo Line. This is the most convenient route and the closest to the venue.
  • JR/Meitetsu/Subway: Approximately 12 to 18 minutes on foot from Ozone Station on the JR, Meitetsu, and Subway lines (please note that the walking route may be crowded during events).
  • By car: Parking is available around the venue, but it may be full or congested on match days or concert days. We recommend using public transportation.
  • Buses and special shuttles: Special buses and shuttles may operate during large events. Please check the official website or event information in advance.

Estimated stay (estimated time required)

  • Watching a professional baseball game: The game lasts about three hours (it may be extended). Including the time it takes to enter and exit the stadium, and to buy food and merchandise, it is safe to plan on spending around four hours at the venue.
  • Concerts: Performances generally last 2-3 hours. Taking into account waiting times to get in and congestion after the show, it's a good idea to allow yourself half a day to a full day, including travel time to and from the venue.
  • Events and exhibitions: It depends on the event, but it usually takes from a few hours to half a day.

Nearby spots

  • AEON Mall Nagoya Dome: With a variety of restaurants, shops, and cafes, it is convenient for meeting up or eating before or after using the venue.
  • Ozone area: There are many restaurants and izakayas, making it a great place to enjoy a meal or a drink after the game.
  • Tokugawa Garden and Tokugawa Art Museum (accessible by car or public transport): A historical garden and museum that you can visit at your leisure if you have time (it's a little far away, but it's easy to incorporate into your sightseeing route).
  • Nagoya city center (Sakae/Nagoya Station): Easily accessible by subway, this is a great base for sightseeing and accommodation.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)

  • Crowds: When popular events or large concerts are held, the nearest station and surrounding pedestrian streets can become very congested. Arrive early, or consider waiting at the venue until the crowds die down on your way back.
  • Transportation: Parking is limited, so we recommend using public transportation. Public transportation on the way back may be congested or have schedule changes, so be sure to check the last train time.
  • What to bring/Rules: Depending on the event, there may be restrictions on what can be brought in (large bags, alcoholic beverages, umbrella shapes, etc.). Baggage inspections and metal detection may be conducted, so please check the official guidelines in advance.
  • Eating, drinking and smoking: Eating and drinking are permitted in designated areas within the venue. Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas (indoors is generally a no-smoking policy).
  • Consideration for others: Please enjoy the event while observing good manners, such as not blocking other spectators' views by standing or cheering excessively, and disposing of trash in designated areas.
  • Weather/season: The dome is air-conditioned, but if you will be waiting outside, please dress appropriately for the season and prepare measures to protect against heatstroke and the cold.
  • Check the information: Information such as whether the event will be held, opening times, seating information, and admission rules may change at the last minute. Please check the official website and ticket information in advance.

Vantelin Dome Nagoya is a major facility in Nagoya where you can not only watch sports but also enjoy large-scale concerts and local events. Please check the access and information for the day before your visit to enjoy a comfortable viewing experience.
