Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)

  • Nijigen no Mori is an outdoor theme park located on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, and is centered around experiential attractions based on popular IP (intellectual property) such as anime, manga, and special effects.
  • Developed in the 2010s as part of the tourism promotion of Awaji Island, it features "real-life experience" content that makes use of the natural forest and vast outdoor space. In addition to large permanent attractions, it also frequently holds limited-time events and collaborative projects.
  • It is popular with a wide range of people, from families to young people, anime fans, and couples, and its appeal lies in its content that can be enjoyed with all five senses, including outdoor athletics, AR/VR experiences, and a walk-through world recreation.

Highlights

  • Representative collaboration attractions: Large-scale experiences tied in with popular works (walk-throughs that recreate the world of the original, AR/VR, ride experiences, etc.). The works change depending on the season, so please check the official website for the latest lineup.
  • Outdoor Activities: Enjoy activities that make use of nature, such as zip lines, athletics, and night events in the forest (subject to weather and seasonal restrictions).
  • Events and Merchandise: There are many exclusive collaboration goods and photo spots, making this a must-see shopping and photo spot for fans.
  • Children's area: There are play equipment and experience programs designed with safety in mind for children from toddlers to elementary school students.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)

  • By car: From Kobe or Osaka, take the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway. Travel time from interchanges on Awaji Island varies depending on your starting point, but it's roughly 30-60 minutes from Kobe city, and 60-90 minutes from the Hanshin area or Osaka city. Parking is available (limited space).
  • Public transportation: Awaji Island does not have a railway, so transportation is mainly by highway bus, local bus, or transfers. The most common way to get to the park is to take a highway bus bound for Awaji Island from Sannomiya (Kobe) or a major station in Osaka, get off at the nearest bus stop or a bus stop such as "Awaji Yumebutai," and then take a local bus, shuttle, or taxi to the park.
  • Taxis and shuttles: For large or small groups, it is convenient to take a taxi from the nearest bus stop or express bus stop. During events, shuttle information may be posted on the official website.
  • Note: The number of public transport services and connections may vary depending on the season and day of the week, so please check the timetable and official access information in advance.

Estimated stay (estimated time required)

  • If you want to experience two or three major attractions, half a day to a full day (approximately 3 to 6 hours) is recommended.
  • If you want to enjoy all the attractions and take your time eating and shopping for merchandise, it will take 1 to 1.5 days.
  • If you are including outdoor activities (such as zip lining), please also take into account the time required for check-in, changing, and safety instructions.

Nearby spots

  • Awaji Yumebutai (International Conference Center, Observation Deck, Garden): Recommended for strolling around the architecture and gardens.
  • Awaji Island Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park/Awaji Hanasajiki: Enjoy seasonal flowers and vast landscapes.
  • Awaji World Park ONOKORO: A family-friendly amusement park.
  • Observing the whirlpools (Naruto Strait): Observation boats and observation spots accessible by car (please note the season and tides).
  • Awaji Island Cuisine: There are many restaurants serving local cuisine using Awaji beef and onions, as well as seafood.

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)

  • Crowds: On weekends, holidays, long holiday periods (Golden Week, summer vacation, New Year's holidays), and during major events featuring popular IPs, the park will be crowded, resulting in long wait times for attractions and queues at the shops. We recommend checking the official website for advance tickets, time-specified tickets, and whether or not reservations are available.
  • Weather: Many attractions are held outdoors, so they may be canceled or suspended in the event of rain, strong winds, or other bad weather. Please bring appropriate clothing and rain gear on days when there are outdoor activities.
  • Age and height restrictions: Zip lines and other athletic activities often have age, height, and weight restrictions. Please check the participation requirements in advance.
  • What to bring: It's a good idea to bring comfortable clothes and shoes, sun protection (hat and sunglasses), drinks, a change of clothes, etc. Depending on the attraction, there may be restrictions on bringing in cameras and smartphones.
  • Manners: Please be considerate of the natural environment and other visitors (such as reserving good spots when taking photos, not using flash, and taking your trash with you).
  • Check for the latest information: Attraction operating status, ticket information, access and parking information may change, so be sure to check the latest information on the official website or social media before visiting.

(Note) The exact attraction contents, opening hours, and transportation times are subject to change, so please check the latest information on the official website before visiting.
