Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)

Suntory Yamazaki Distillery is Japan's first full-scale malt whisky distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, the "father of whisky." Built on the border between Osaka and Kyoto in an area blessed with a favorable climate and water quality, it has been producing Suntory whisky, including the Yamazaki brand, for many years. The brick and wood facilities, the unique aroma and quiet environment of a distillery, and the storehouse where the whisky undiluted liquor sleeps are popular not only with whisky enthusiasts but also with general tourists.

Its distinctive features include the production process using traditional pot stills, aging in multiple types of barrels, exhibitions and tastings for visitors (age restrictions apply), etc. Through the exhibits and guided tours within the museum, you can learn about the production process and experience whiskey tasting.
