overview

This area is home to gardens and Western-style buildings, primarily consisting of merchant residences from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era. Nationally designated Important Cultural Properties, such as the former Glover House, are scattered throughout, allowing visitors to experience the history of the Meiji Restoration and the exotic atmosphere of the area. The view overlooking Nagasaki Port is also captivating.

access

From JR Nagasaki Station, take the tram to Oura Tenshudoshita, then walk for 10-15 minutes. There are many slopes, but you can easily climb up by using Glover Sky Road or the tram.

Estimated stay

It takes about 1-2 hours to tour the Western-style building and stroll through the gardens. If you include taking photos and strolling around the surrounding area, it will take more than 2 hours.
