Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)

Oasis 21 is an urban complex located in Sakae (south of Hisaya Odori Park), the center of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. Its biggest feature is the "Water Spaceship," a large glass roof filled with water, and the water's surface reflecting the sky creates a futuristic landscape. It combines commercial facilities, event spaces, a bus terminal, tourist information, and more, and is a popular landmark where local residents and tourists gather.

Its distinctive features include the visual impact of the water surface on the rooftop, and the green space (event plaza and walking paths), shops, and restaurants below, which create a refreshing view during the day and a fantastical illuminated view at night. Seasonal events (markets, live music, illuminations, etc.) are also part of its appeal, and it is also a popular photo spot.

Highlights

  • Water Spaceship (glass roof): The transparent roof covered with water reflects the sky, creating a unique and beautiful landscape. Photos of the view from around the roof and the scenery seen from below through the water are popular.
  • Event Square (basement and first floor)Markets, live music, and local events are frequently held here. Food festivals and craft markets are often held on weekends.
  • Night illumination: At night, the illuminations on the roof and surrounding area create a fantastical atmosphere. Recommended for photo shoots and dates.
  • Shops and Restaurants: There are snack bars, cafes, and souvenir shops, making it a convenient place to take a break or have a meal. You can also relax on outdoor benches or in the surrounding park.
  • Collaboration with the surrounding landscape:It is adjacent to Nagoya TV Tower and Hisaya Odori Park, so it is worth seeing the surrounding scenery.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)

  • By subway: Approximately 3-6 minutes on foot from Sakae Station (Higashiyama Line/Meijo Line) on the subway. It is also a few minutes on foot from Hisaya-odori Station (Meijo Line/Sakura-dori Line). *The required time varies depending on the exit and walking speed.
  • Bus/CarThere is a bus terminal below the facility, making it easy to get to and from Nagoya city and beyond. There are paid parking lots in the surrounding area, but the Sakae area is often crowded and expensive, so we recommend using public transportation.
  • Bicycle/walk: Located in the heart of the Sakae area, it is easy to get to nearby tourist spots on foot or by bicycle.
  • *Please check the official website or station guide for the latest access information (exit numbers, temporary detours, etc.).
