Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Awaji Hanasajiki is a large flower park located on the high ground of Awaji Island in the northern part of Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Developed in 1998, the park features colorful flower fields that change with the seasons across approximately 15 hectares of sloping land. The park's major attractions are the panoramic views of Osaka Bay, Mount Rokko, and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, as well as the "carpet" of flowers that changes with the seasons, making it a popular spot for photography, strolls, and picnics.
Highlights
- Seasonal flower fields: The main flowers change with the seasons, such as rape blossoms and tulips in spring, lavender and poppies in early summer, sunflowers in summer, and cosmos in autumn.
- Observation Deck: A viewing spot where you can enjoy the view of the sea and bridges stretching out over the flower fields. On clear days, you can see far into the distance.
- Walking paths and photo spots: Walking paths have been developed that make use of the undulating grounds, and there are many photogenic views scattered throughout the grounds.
- Seasonal events: Guided tours and workshops are held to coincide with the best time to see the flowers, as well as limited-time illuminations (when held).

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: The park gets crowded during the best times to see the flowers (long spring holidays, the lavender season in early summer, and the autumn tourist season). Parking lots and surrounding roads also get congested, so we recommend leaving with plenty of time or visiting on a weekday morning.
- Manners: Entering the flower beds and picking flowers are prohibited. Please use the designated paths to protect the flowers.
- Weather and clothing: The sea breeze can be strong and the sun can be intense on some days, so don't forget to bring a hat, sunscreen, and hydrate. In rainy weather, some areas can become slippery.
- Accessibility: The main observation areas and restrooms are accessible, but as the site is hilly, we recommend checking the route if you are using a wheelchair or stroller.
- Check the latest information: Opening times, closing days, admission fees, and event information may change depending on the season or year, so please check the official website or tourist information for the latest information before visiting.
