Kirishima Onsenkyo is the general term for the hot spring region that spreads across Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is made up of hot spring inns and public baths scattered around the foothills of the Kirishima Mountains. The area has had abundant hot spring resources since ancient times due to fumarolic activity and volcanic topography, and the hot springs have a variety of spring qualities, including sulfur springs, acidic springs, and simple springs. The Kirishima Mythology and Kirishima Shrine, which are linked to the Kirishima mountains (such as Takachiho-no-mine and Shinmoedake), which have been objects of worship since ancient times, make the area a great attraction, as you can enjoy history, culture, and natural scenery all at the same time.

- Nearest stations: Take a taxi or bus from JR Kokubu Station or JR Hayato Station. The nearest station will vary depending on your accommodation and destination.
- From the airport: Approximately 25-40 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport (Kirishima City). Renting a car is convenient.
- From the Shinkansen or major cities: Approximately 40 to 70 minutes by car from Kagoshima Chuo Station, or take the JR line to Kokubu Station and transfer to a taxi or bus.
- Expressway: Approximately 20-40 minutes by car from an interchange such as Kirishima IC on the Kyushu Expressway (varies depending on destination).
- Public Transportation: Local buses and tourist buses operate, but the number of buses is limited, so we recommend checking the schedules in advance or renting a car or using a taxi.

- Manners: Please observe general hot spring manners, such as pouring water over yourself and washing your body before bathing, not putting towels in the water, and not shouting. Some facilities have restrictions on bathing for people with tattoos, so please check in advance.
- Volcanic activity and entry restrictions: Kirishima is an active volcano. Entry restrictions may be issued due to eruption warnings or the release of volcanic gas (hydrogen sulfide). Please check the latest information from the Japan Meteorological Agency and local governments before hiking or sightseeing around the crater.
- Clothing and Preparation: In mountainous areas, there can be large temperature differences between day and night. If hiking, be sure to bring warm and windproof gear, rain gear, and non-slip shoes.
