Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Sumida Park is an urban park that stretches along the Sumida River, spanning both the Sumida and Taito wards. It has been a popular cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period, and the scenery depicted in ukiyo-e prints continues to this day. Today, it is also a popular tourist base for Tokyo Skytree and the Asakusa area, and one of its great attractions is the view of Tokyo landmarks such as the Skytree, Azumabashi Bridge, and the Asahi Beer headquarters building's sculpture (the golden flame of the "Unko Building") from the walking paths and benches along the river.
