Toyokuni Shrine, located in Kyoto City, is one of the shrines dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537-1598), a feudal lord who ruled Japan from the Sengoku period onwards. Among the Toyokuni Shrines built around the country to commemorate Hideyoshi's achievements, the one in Kyoto has long been a popular destination for local worshippers. The shrine building retains the charm of traditional shrine architecture, creating an appealing atmosphere that evokes history. It's easy to incorporate into sightseeing routes in the Higashiyama area and around Kiyomizu-dera Temple, making it popular with tourists and local worshippers alike.

- Train + Walking: Accessible by foot or bus from Keihan Railway's Gion-Shijo Station or Kiyomizu-Gojo Station. Transfers from the Hankyu Line and subway are also convenient.
- City bus: The closest bus stops around Kiyomizu-dera Temple, such as Kyoto City Bus's "Gojozaka" and "Kiyomizu-michi," are often the closest, and you can walk from there.
- From Kyoto Station: Approximately 15-25 minutes by city bus (Routes 100, 206, etc.) or taxi from Kyoto Station (depending on traffic conditions).
- By car: As the surrounding area is a tourist destination, roads and parking lots can be congested. If you plan to visit by car, please check in advance whether parking is available.

- Worship Manners: Please be quiet within the grounds, and be aware that this is a sacred place. Please be mindful of the procedures at the chozuya (purification fountain) and the proper etiquette for worship.
- Photography: Photography is generally permitted within the temple grounds, but there may be restrictions on photography during festivals and religious ceremonies. Please follow the notices and instructions of the staff.
- Footing/Stairs: The Higashiyama area has many slopes and stone steps, so we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. They can be especially slippery in rainy weather.
- Goshuin and other offerings: The offering offices may have limited opening hours. If you are visiting to get a goshuin, please check the opening hours.
- Seasonal clothing: Kyoto has large temperature differences between the four seasons, so please dress appropriately for the season (a light jacket in spring and autumn, sun protection in summer, and warm clothing in winter).
