Tsunoshima Lighthouse is a chalk-white lighthouse standing on the northern tip of Tsunoshima Island in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Built in the Meiji period, it retains the atmosphere of a Western-style lighthouse, and its view of the cobalt blue sea and Tsunoshima Bridge in the background has gained popularity nationwide. The contrast between the blue sea, the white lighthouse, and the bridge makes for a photogenic spot, and the attractive seascape changes its appearance depending on the season and time of day.

Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- By car (recommended): Take the Chugoku Expressway/Sanyo Expressway towards Shimonoseki. The most common route to the island is to cross the Tsunoshima Bridge. There is a parking lot near the lighthouse, but it gets crowded on weekends and during peak tourist season, so we recommend arriving early.
- Public transportation: The nearest major station is JR Shimonoseki Station. There is a bus service from Shimonoseki Station to Tsunoshima, but the number of buses is limited, so please check the timetable in advance. From the bus stop, cross the bridge and then walk or take a taxi to the lighthouse area.
- Rental cars and tours: These are convenient because they offer a lot of freedom and allow you to easily visit tourist spots around Tsunoshima (roadside stations and beaches).

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: Parking lots and observation spots tend to be crowded with tourists on weekends, holidays, and during the summer. Early morning and evening hours are also prone to congestion, so plan ahead.
- Parking: There may be a limited number of spaces available. When the parking lot is full, please refrain from parking on the surrounding streets or private property, as this is a nuisance and illegal.
- Weather and clothing: The sea breeze can be strong and chilly, so bring a jacket, especially in spring and autumn. In summer, the sun is strong, so bring a hat and sunscreen.
- Safety precautions: The coast and rocky areas can be slippery and have strong currents in some areas. When playing in the ocean, please be aware of your surroundings and do not push yourself too hard.
- Visiting the interior of the lighthouse: Please check in advance whether the interior of the lighthouse is open to the public, as opening hours and visiting rules may change.
- Drones/Photography: The area around the lighthouse is close to a shipping route, so there may be restrictions on drone flying. Please follow the rules and instructions of local authorities.
- Garbage and Manners: To protect the natural environment, please take your trash home with you and be considerate of local residents and other tourists.
