overview

This art museum combines an outdoor sculpture park on a slope surrounded by natural forest with an indoor collection. Its appeal lies in its exhibitions that combine modern sculptures, such as the Picasso Pavilion, with sculpture and landscapes. There are many works that can be enjoyed in conjunction with the scenery of the four seasons, making it popular with families.

Highlights

  • Picasso Museum's ceramic print and sculpture collection
  • A vast outdoor exhibit and large sculptures that blend into nature
  • Participatory artworks that children can play with

access

From Odawara Station or Hakone-Yumoto Station, take the Hakone Tozan Bus for about 25-40 minutes and get off at Tatemae. By car, there is a parking lot via the Odawara Atsugi Road.

Estimated stay

It takes about 2-3 hours to tour the inside and outside of the building.

Nearby spots

  • Hakone Shrine (Hakone Town)
  • Owakudani (Hakone Town)
  • Gora Park (Gora, Ashigarashimo District)

Points to note

As the museum is mainly outdoors, it may be difficult to visit in rainy or bad weather. It tends to get crowded on weekends and holidays, and there are rules about what you can touch and what you can't, so please follow the instructions.
