Ainoshima is a small inhabited island in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City. It is known as a tourist spot for its idyllic fishing village scenery facing the Genkai Sea, its abundant nature, and as the "Cat Island." Fishing has been the mainstay of life for a long time, and the island still retains scenery that evokes the region's history, such as stone walls, old houses, and shrines. In recent years, the island has become increasingly popular with cat lovers and photography enthusiasts, with many tourists visiting on weekends and long holidays.

- Cats: There are many friendly cats all over the island. You can see them relaxing around the port, in the villages, on the embankments, etc. (Please observe proper etiquette when feeding and interacting with them.)
- Port and fishing village scenery: The scenery is picturesque and rustic, with fishing boats, buoys, old warehouses, stone wharves, etc. The light in the morning and evening is also beautiful.

- General directions by public transport
- From Hakata: Take the JR Kagoshima Main Line or other line towards Kashii or Chihaya, then take a bus or taxi to the ferry terminal (Shingu or a nearby ferry terminal). Take the ferry to Ainoshima (approximately 10-20 minutes by ferry, approximately 1 hour from Hakata including the land route and waiting time).
- There are several ferry services per day (varies depending on the season and day of the week). The number of services is limited in the early morning and evening, so please check the round-trip times.
- By car
- There is a parking lot at the ferry terminal on the mainland (it has limited space and may be full). Drive to the ferry terminal and board the ferry to disembark. The best way to get around the island is on foot.
- Points to note: Boats are easily affected by the weather and may be canceled in bad weather. Be sure to check the operating status for the day.
