Overview (history, characteristics, attractions)
Shiraito Falls is a waterfall located in Kamiide, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and is characterized by the beautiful scenery of Mount Fuji's underground waters cascading down in thin, silk-like threads. The waterfall is said to drop about 20m and be 150m wide, with the soft water flowing in several separate streams reminiscent of "shiraito" (silk threads). It has long been a popular scenic spot, and with its source being Mount Fuji's spring water, it is one of the most representative natural landscapes in the region. The surrounding area is a tourist spot associated with the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site, and is also attractive for its different appearances in each of the four seasons.
Highlights

Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: It gets crowded during Golden Week, summer vacation, autumn foliage season, and weekends. The parking lot fills up quickly, so we recommend arriving early.
- Manners: Stepping off the trails or into the water's edge is dangerous and can lead to environmental destruction. Please use the designated viewing areas and trails. When taking photographs, please be considerate to other visitors.
- Footing: Some areas of the trail may be wet and slippery, and there may be steps. We recommend wearing sneakers or other non-slip footwear.
- Seasonal precautions: In winter, roads and stairs may freeze. In autumn, fallen leaves can make the area slippery, and in spring, the snow melts, so be careful as the water level increases. In rainy weather, there is a risk of flooding and landslides, so please avoid approaching the area excessively.
- Facilities: There are shops and public toilets, but their opening hours and number are limited. It is a good idea to prepare drinks and other necessities in advance.
- Protect the natural environment: Always take your trash with you and avoid contact with plants and animals.
