Mount Mizugaki is a mountain located in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, at an elevation of approximately 2,230m, known for its mountain scenery characterized by its rugged granite boulders and rocky peaks. It has long been a place of worship and ascetic practices, and the landscape, interwoven with unique rocky ridges and lush forests, is popular with climbers and bouldering enthusiasts. From spring to autumn, the mountain is attractive for its fresh greenery, alpine plants, autumn foliage, and the panoramic mountain views on clear days (sometimes Mount Fuji, the Yatsugatake Mountains, and the Southern Alps can be seen).

- Granite boulders: Unique rock towers and cliffs are scattered around the summit and ridgeline. A series of strangely shaped rocks that are perfect for photos.
- View from the summit: On a clear day, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, Yatsugatake, the Southern Alps, and more.
- Diversity of hiking routes: There is a wide variety of courses, from hiking on rocky terrain to steep climbs with chains and ropes, and advanced hikers can enjoy traversing the surrounding area.
- Bouldering/Rock Climbing: It is also famous as a mecca for outdoor rock climbing and bouldering that makes use of huge rocks (please follow the specific rules and etiquette).
- Alpine plants and seasonal scenery: The alpine plants in summer and the autumn foliage season are particularly beautiful, attracting many climbers.
Access (nearest station, transportation, etc.)
- The nearest general entrance is JR Kobuchizawa Station (convenient for access from Kofu). Nagasaka Station or Hinoharu Station may also be used.
- Bus/Taxi: From Kobuchizawa Station, take a seasonal bus or taxi to the trailhead (towards the Mizugakiyama trailhead). Buses run infrequently, so please check in advance.
- By car: From the Chuo Expressway, exit at Kobuchizawa IC or Nagasaka IC and take the national or prefectural road towards the trailhead and Mizugaki Nature Park. There is a parking lot (both paid and free) near the trailhead, but it tends to fill up during peak seasons.
- Please note: Public transportation is subject to restrictions on the number of services and operating periods, so please check timetables and road conditions (winter closures, etc.) before visiting.

- Day hike (trailhead → summit round trip): The standard time required from the trailhead to the summit is about 3-4 hours for the ascent and 2-3 hours for the descent. It is common to plan for a round trip of 6-8 hours, including breaks.
- Staying in mountain huts and hiking in the surrounding area: Depending on your physical strength and the route you choose, you can enjoy a leisurely stay in mountain huts, or combine it with nearby mountains such as Mt. Kinpu to make the trip longer than two days.

- Mount Kinpu: A popular mountain alongside Mount Mizugaki. Known for Gojo Rock and other features, some climbers traverse the mountain.
- Kiyosato Plateau (Kiyosato, Moegi Village): This area has tourist facilities, cafes, ranches, and more, making it an easy place to stop by before or after hiking.
- Yatsugatake area: There are viewing spots and trekking courses of the Yatsugatake mountain range within a short drive.
- Mizugaki Lake and Mizugaki Nature Park: A great spot for walking and camping, perfect for families.
- Hot springs: There are many day-trip hot spring facilities and inns in the surrounding area where you can relax after hiking (such as the Kobuchizawa and Kiyosato areas).
Things to be aware of (crowds, manners, seasonal precautions, etc.)
- Crowds: Trailheads and parking lots will be crowded on weekends during Golden Week, summer vacation, and the autumn foliage season. Please consider leaving early or using public transportation (paying attention to operation schedules).
- Weather changes: The weather in the mountains is changeable, so beware of afternoon thunderstorms and sudden drops in temperature. Plan your itinerary well in advance and be sure to bring rain gear and cold weather gear.
- Risk of falls and rocky areas: Granite rocks become very slippery when wet. Do not push yourself on rocky or chained areas, and turn back if necessary. Prepare your hiking gear (sturdy waterproof shoes, helmet depending on the conditions).
- Bouldering/Climbing Etiquette: When climbing on outdoor rocks, you must follow local rules, protect vegetation, and be considerate of other climbers. Please follow etiquette, such as using chalk and taking precautions against falling rocks.
- Bear and animal precautions: There are reports of bears and other wild animals in the mountains. Please take precautions such as wearing a bell and taking care to properly manage your trash at night.
- Garbage and Toilets: Please take your trash with you when you leave the mountains or on the trails. Use the toilet at the trailhead or mountain hut, and avoid defecating on the mountainside or dispose of it properly.
- Winter/snowy mountain climbing: During snowy and icy periods, equipment such as crampons and ice axes are essential. If you have no experience in winter mountain climbing, do not push yourself and always travel with a guide or someone with experience.
